Problem: Where can I log in?

One of the first issues with Logobay was the missing login link on logobay.com. After successfully signing up and activating the account, new users gets redirected to their subdomain. They log in, start uploading and sending logos. Afterwards, they close the browser window. So far, so good.

Confsuion arises when users log in for the second time. They open www.logobay.com and can’t find a login button. How can they access Logobay?

Cause

We use the user-chosen subdomain as the primary identifyer. That means, users have to access their subdomain, like “myaccount.logobay.com”. That results in many advantages:

  • Same user name and E-mail can be used in different accounts (think about freelancers)
  • User names don’t have to be unique in the system (“peter” instead of “petermaier1974_2″)
  • Clients can log in and work with Logobay without seeing the promotional website

We are working on customization like adding your logo to the Logobay log in window or adjustable color schemes. This way, we allow to integrate Logobay seamlessly into the agency website without interruption. Logobay becomes invisible for clients.

Effect

After being E-mailed by five desperate users, that hadn’t been able to access their account, the solution was clear. We needed a psychological login button:

It leads to a page, that explains how and why people will need to use their subdomains to log in.

Conclusion

Instead of hunting users through FAQs and help pages, we cushion frustration instantly. Result: no more questions about the missing log in button. Mission accomplished.
